TWO MILLION SCHOOL
KIDS CAN’T STOP TALKING ABOUT IT – AND IT’S COMING TO YOUR AREA
In these turbulent times, we too often read about
violence, drugs and apathy among our nation’s school children.
Here’s a rare
chance to share a positive story concerning America’s youth.
For ten years, nationally acclaimed dance instructor
Christy Lane has taken her message of
“Dance,
not Drugs” to elementary, middle and high schools across the nation.
Her
immensely popular
Dare to Dance school assemblies have excited, engaged and
energized two million students.
By promoting self-esteem, coordination and
social skills, Christy convinces students what an important part dance plays in
their physical, mental and emotional well-being.
As one student recently wrote
to Christy
“I like what you said about
whenever I am sad I can just close the door and dance and it will make me feel
better.”
Taking students on an interactive musical history tour of
the 1950’s through the present day, Christy teaches them the most popular
dances from the days of their grandparents, parents, and older siblings and
then fast-forwards her captive audience to the hottest dances of the present
moment.
An appreciative mother writes,
“My
daughter came home from your assembly and we spent the afternoon doing all the
dances from my own school days!”
Physical education teachers and school principals are
also enthusiastic about Dare to Dance assemblies, citing them as one of the
most requested year after year by the students.
Most see a level of
involvement that surprises them.
“She is
the only person I know to get ALL of the attendees to participate and have fun.
I think Christy is great!” noted one teacher.
Christy believes there is an urge inside everyone to
want to move and know how to dance.
Her biggest message to both adult and
youth today is: “Dance can offer all the
benefits of wellness.
It is physical, mental, social, and emotional and it
develops self-esteem.
The emotional and social development is so badly needed
in today’s society.”
One of her messages to kids turns frowns into smiles.
“If you ever are feeling down, just go
somewhere, turn on some music and let yourself go!
Dance!
It’s a wonderful
way to feel good about yourself and life!”
